Cada mañana me siento a desayunar con un café, un trozo de pan tostado y el diario El País. Pongo un poco de azúcar en el café, aceite de oliva y tomate en el pan, y abro el periódico por las páginas finales, las de televisión. Una rutina que tiene que ver con este blog, que escribo desde hace siete años y está dedicado a la pequeña pantalla y sus vericuetos. Me interesa especialmente la información sobre televisión. Compro El País, entre otras cosas, por la información sobre televisión. Pago buena parte de ese euro con treinta céntimos que me cobra el quiosquero por su información sobre televisión. ¿Y qué me encuentro un día tras otro? Publicidad. Ayer concretamente la sección incluía dos piezas: la primera, sobre una película de animación que estrena hoy Canal +, la plataforma de pago de PRISA, propietaria del diario El País. La segunda, sobre un documental que estrenó esa misma noche una cadena de pago, en el dial 21 de Canal +, la plataforma de pago de PRISA, propietaria del diario El País.
A los periodistas de raza estos detalles les parecen insignificantes. A mí, como lector mestizo, pero de pago, me indignan. Mordisqueo el pan, me limpio unas gotas de grasa de la barbilla, apuro el café y me pregunto: ¿para qué coño sigo comprando el periódico? “Por la sección de internacional y los chistes de El Roto y Forges”, me susurra la voz de mi nostálgica conciencia periodística. “En la red lo tienes todo, no seas tan gilipollas como para pagar la publicidad a precio de información”, grita mi raquítica cartera desde el fondo del bolsillo del pantalón. Juan Luis Cebrián, consejero delegado de PRISA, me ayuda a tomar una decisión: “los periódicos han desaparecido y no lo sabemos. Somos como muertos vivientes”.
No seré yo quien lleve la contraria a Cebrián, el ejecutivo de los 8,2 millones de euros. La crisis de la prensa no está causada por un solo motivo, es evidente, pero la baja calidad de los periódicos podría ser uno de los importantes. El País, el mejor de todos, se desangra en el pago de hipotecas: la ludopatía y el onanismo son dos vicios que licuan la tinta y dejan manchas en cada página. “A mí lo que me preocupa, en El País y en la prensa en general, es el proceso de autocensura en las redacciones, que es muy fuerte”, asegura un Cebrián con un descomunal sentido de la autocrítica. “Es decir, redactores que se abstienen de publicar, de decir cosas, de llevar a cabo investigaciones, lo que sea. Y no porque nadie les presione, ni la empresa ni fuerzas exteriores a la empresa, ni los gobiernos… sino porque el redactor cree que no le conviene”.
Acabáramos. La culpa es de los periodistas. Esos caguetas que piensan que tienen que escribir bien de Canal +, del grupo Santillana, de la Cadena Ser, de Mediaset (Telecinco, Cuatro), de la monarquía, de los políticos que les concedieron las televisiones, del empresario mexicano Carlos Slim, de los bancos acreedores con los que han pactado la refinanciación de una deuda financiera de PRISA que ascendía en 2011 hasta los 3.537 millones de euros…
Muertos vivientes, insiste un Cebrián que, quizá en un gesto que forma parte de su campaña en defensa de la monarquía, y para quitarle plomo al incidente de Froilán, se ha disparado con un Magnum 44 en el pie. ¡Pum!

Estoy totalmente de acuerdo. Llevo casi 30 años leyendo ‘El Pais’ y cada vez es peor. Hace mucho que no lo compro.Lo leo (u ojeo) en el bar de abajo mientras trajino el primer cafè del día.Solo leo algunos columnistas , el Roto, etc. y ojeo los titulares de las noticias. Rara vez una entera, porque además es que ya paso.Eso sí, lo peor de todo es que el resto de los periódicos son manifiestamente peores. Como lea ‘El Mundo’ me tiro toda la mañana de mala leche .

A mi me han llamado la atención varias cosas, aunque aclaro que no soy seguidor de este mushasho, ni de su obra ni de sus chismes, pero el tono a ratos parece amable, alejado de la imagen que habitualmente tenemos de él. Otras ya empieza on esa habilidad ue sin duda le confiere su cultura y su título de Filología para llamar hijo de puta a quien se tercie. Por otro lado y como nadie está falto de su, al menos, chupito de razón, en algunas cosas estoy al menos parcialmente de acuerdo. ¿Podría haber tirado más a matar? Pues sin duda, ya te digo ue la sensación principal es de una amabilidad desacostumbrada, aunque, por ejemplo y sin dejar de ser suave, los tiros a la corona no son muy habituales viniendo de esa acera.
Algunas de las críticas a la izquierda las comparto, pero cuando pretende vender la burra liberal pues como que no le queda del to bien el look vendedor.
La verdad es que me entretuve mucho con ella, sobre todo con la parte más artística y cultural, aunque sus críticas a literatos presentes y pasados…. brrrrr.
Lo que no me explico es como no dijo nada de D. Antonio Larrosa…
Yo me lo compro los sábados por el Babelia y los domingos por tradición, entre semana intento leer cualquier periódico si voy a un bar (normalmente El Periódico o La Vanguardia pq estoy en Catalunya), y cada día leo los titulares de El País, ABC, El Confidencial y La Gaceta a través de internet. Y luego, para informarme, miro el Twitter.

Yo 30 no llevo, pero en torno a 20 sí, y no puedo estar más de acuerdo. Hace ya varios años que dejé de comprarlo, cuando antes, al menos los domingos, era casi imprescindible. La invasión publicitaria y la deriva de progrepijo que ha ido tomando de un tiempo a esta parte, y que ahora es escandalosa, acabaron con la bella tradición de perderse entre las páginas del periódico durantes las largas tardes del domingo. Lo peor es que, como también dices, la teórica competencia es directamente un desperdicio de papel. No sé si esta tendencia de menos por más se estará dando también en la prensa internacional, aunque al menos a mí me parece menos acusada en la poca de habla inglesa que tengo tiempo de leer. Una auténtica lástima, y una demostración más de que cuando el objetivo de un negocio es hacer dinero a toda costa y por encima de todo, el negocio no sólo se convierte en perjudicial para la mayoría, sino tarde o temprano también en ruinoso. El grupo que queda en los Madriles es de traca: ABC, El Mundo, La Razón y La Gaceta… Cualquiera de ellos hace bueno a El País.

Sección de TV no tiene, pero Diagonal ofrece desde hace ya seis años una alternativa, cada dos semanas, a medios como El País… Y lo que menos son es muertos vivientes! Y autocensura tampoco hacen. Eso sí, Cebrián dice que son “muertos vivientes”, pero no se baja del burro. Es decir, que criticar y quejarnos, sí, pero empezar a hacer las cosas de otro modo, solo si te ves en la indigencia, como los de Público, que ahora de repente se les ha ocurrido montar una cooperativa, y lo más divertido de todo, “hacer periodismo de investigación”. Siento mucho la acritud de mi comentario, pero claro, viene desde la militancia, desde la que se ve a muchas y muchos criticar con la boca llena y luego irse a chupar de nuevo el trasero del jefe. Criticamos todo pero cambiar, cambiar, dar el paso, como que no. Muy cómodo y desesperante.

A los de Público hay que oir lo que cuentan de los entresijos de la gestión de los últimos meses, con ese “empresario de izquierdas” arengándoles para que se quedasen tras la primera ronda de bajas voluntarias porque él iba a sacar adelante el periódico aunque fuera aportando su patrimonio personal si fuera necesario. Llegó a mencionar un cuadro (no recuerdo si de Miró) que pondría en venta si llegara el caso… Ahora están en el FOGASA sin haber visto un duro, habiendo firmado el finiquito en blanco y sin saber cuándo van a cobrar todo lo que se les adeuda, si es que terminan de cobrarlo. Eso sí, después de aquella arenga no volvieron a verle el “pelo” por allí…

Desde que murió Eduardo Haro Tecglen no he vuelto a comprar El País. Ya olía mal en aquellos tiempos, así que ahora tiene que ser bastante más hediondo. A mi ya no me vale lo de “el menos malo”, no lo hago ni siquiera en elecciones como para andar ahora tapándome la nariz. C.N. tiene toda la razón en su comentario respecto al periódico Diagonal. Puede ser minoritario, marginal, nada conocido pero hacen buen periodismo, aunque sea cada dos semanas.
El amigo Cebrian es un tremendo cínico. No sólo por la pasta que cobra, si no cuando dice que los periodistas se autocensuran…. ¡valiente hijo de puta!….

Hombre, La Gaceta esta fatal. Andan esperando a que les entre publicidad institucional para sobrevivir…te da eso una pista de cuales pueden ser sus benefactores? Por lo que yo se, Esperanza a tenido mucho que ver, empezando por otorgar licencias a Intereconomia, Libertad Digital y Veo7. Lo cual explica por que le bailan el agua esas 3 cadenas +La Gaceta +El Mundo y casi seguro que la “comunidad de mandril” les compra publicidad .
En cuanto al ABC y La RAzon, que yo sepa no estan en su mejor momento y lo demas lo ignoro. El ABC lleva mucho en el negocio y tuvo un oscuro papel cuando Franco tomo el poder asi que vete tu a saber…

Yo deje de comprar El País porque se ha convertido en una máquina de autopromocionar la empresa. Me ponía de mal humor cuando leía que pasaba algo en la Ser, el plus, cuatro, etc, etc….y encima esa revista del domingo que parece el catálogo de Louis Vuitton. Lo compro algún domingo si lleva una buena peli que me interese, si no, a internet que es gratis.

Hinojosas, ten calma. Pensaba que te molestaba el hecho de la secesión pero veo que es más por la solicitud de adhesión de Cartagena a los EE.UU . Hay que ponerse en contexto, y este como indicaba anteriormente era una situación política aguda y la solicitud de Cartagena en mi opinión fue una salida a la desesperada en conjunción con las muestras expansionistas de EE.UU. que luego se han ido demostrando.
Estarás conmigo que hubiera sido muy interesante el s.XX español con un enclave americano. Aunque también es verdad que con un Guantánamo ya tenemos suficiente.
Por cierto, lo de la esclavitud: en esa época (1873) ya había acabado en EE.UU. (en 1865, tras su guerra civil) en tanto que en España hasta ¡1886! seguía teniendo esclavos en ultramar.
P.D. Dado que el Gobierno está más por reducir el déficit (que ellos han creado para pagar a la Banca) que por defender y aumentar los derechos y libertades de los ciudadanos… creo que ya hay casi 6 millones de habitantes para un más que decente estado libre asociado para ofrecerse a una mejor metrópoli. ¿China esta vez?

No es que me molestara, yo era un chaval y apenas lo recuerdo :), pero pedir la adhesión a un estado situado a miles de kilómetros, me lo podrás discutir, pero es, ¿ridículo?, ni en casos extremos se pueden hacer tonterías de ese calibre, imagínate las caras de los americanos del norte al leer la solicitud, descacharrante, pon le tú el apelativo que quieras, estoy de acuerdo contigo en que hubiese sido interesante un siglo XX español con un enclave americano (sic) pero para eso media España debería matar a la otra media.
Cuando escribí mi argumento estuve a punto de consultar las fechas de la guerra de secesión americana, pues no recordaba exactamente el año, pero no lo considere necesario puesto que aunque vencieron los Yanquis la esclavitud siguió en vigor aunque fuese ilegal, te recomiendo “Arde Mississippi”.

A mi me parece que dar información sobre el producto de Canal+ es una buena noticia sea cual sea el medio que lo publique. No deja de ser un canal de pago que compra lo mejor que hay en el mercado para televisión. Y se agradece, en los tiempos de TV que tenemos.
